While 13 YEAR CICADA rehearsed their first two albums to the letter and recorded them within a week, the third album HAHA GRAVITY allowed for a smoother creative process, switching back and forth between recording, writing, and rethinking. The writing of lyrics and themes on the album became a collective process centered around the redistribution of wealth and resistance to the concentration of power. GTA and class struggle, living in one place and being evicted, trickle-down ideology, and working in a restaurant are all connected. Staying home and reading during the pandemic has been good for them. 13YC want to be part of the big fight. There is no "end of the story" - the future will be different.
