Intense neo-psychedelic punk 7" by Bury St Edmunds, UK duo Death Rays.
Death Rays are a new young musical act and this is their debut 7" single, they are based in both the UK and Germany.
Recorded at their own Am Krogel studio based in Berlin Germany, the duo partnered to create one of the more unique sounding records within the neo-psychedelic scene right now.
The A-side The Shape Of The Night, starts with ambient sounds of a busy airport or train station and then leads into minimalistic pattens formed by the use of a vintage drum machine and droned out guitars, lyricism about the existential inner woes of the outsider in the modern era, the song builds to a crescendo of noise.
The flip "Shadows" is a more subtle affair and compliments the intense A-side with a softer more blissed out vibe, with soft synth drones and tremolo floating behind, some nice arpeggiated synth lines and lyrics again with an outsider and reflective vibe.
The record was also mastered by Spacemen 3/Spectrum legend Pete Kember.
The 45 is limited to 300 copies each copy will be hand-numbered in a red risographed fold-over sleeve and each contains a small lyric insert and a market square promo postcard.
