Punk Elää 1 3 x 7" Box Set
limited edition box set with 3 x 7″ inch singles in picture sleeves. Black vinyl.
The first release in a series of punk and hardcore 7 inch reproductions, we offer you Punk elää vol 1. The aim of the series is to offer people the chance to digest these often impossibly rare and expensive records in their original 7 inch format. Each box comes with an insert with text from Fenno-punk historian Juho Hänninen.
This first 3 x 7 inch box set contains faithful reproductions of three privately pressed 7 inches from Finland. Each have their original picture sleeve designs. The thing in common with these three discs was that none of the bands’ careers went further than these self-financed locally circulated records.
Nauta‘s 7 inch Onko Suomi vapaa maa was self-released in 1980 in a pressing of 250 copies. Nauta played catchy punk rock with some new wave influences but, alas, their career ended short.
Only 200 copies of Kasvain‘s Onko Suomi Usattunut 7″ were made in 1980, and finding an original copy requires unimaginable luck or a fat wallet. To make collectors’ lives even harder, each of the 200 singles had hand drawn covers, all different from each other. Musically Kasvain played rough, adolescent punk with poor production values – in other words, great stuff!
There have been rumours that Neuroosi‘s Rock Against Seija Isonsaari 7″ was never even released apart from a set of test pressings, but these rumours have been proven false, as there were 200 copies actually released and circulated to friends and punk aficionados in Suomussalmi, Finland. This record, too saw the light of day in 1980.
